Method 1: Manually adjusting the backlight on MacBook

Sometimes the issue is with an automatic light detection feature. Where your machine is not able to respond well towards the light intensity of your atmosphere. In such a situation you can take over the system and can manually adjust the backlight according to your need. For that purpose you can follow the below steps;

  • Open the Apple Menu and then move to System Preferences now go to the ‘Keyboard‘ panel.
  • Next, you have to look for the option “Automatically lit-up Keyboard in low light” and turn-off it.
  • Now you can use the F5 and F6 keys to adjust the keyboard backlit on MacBook according to your needs.

Method 2: Adjusting the MacBook Position

MacBook has a built-in feature to disable the keyboard backlight when it is used in bright lights, or under direct sunlight. Whenever the light is directly passing on the light sensor (light sensor is right beside to front camera) or even glaring on the light sensor.

To fix this problem just adjust the position of your MacBook so that there is no shining/glare on display or around the front-facing camera.

Method 3: MacBook Backlight Still Not Responding

If the battery is non-removable

  • Shutdown your Macbook and wait a few seconds after it completely turnoffs.
  • Now press Shift+Control+Option+Power buttons simultaneously. Then release all of them after 10 seconds.
  • Now turn-on your Macbook normally with the power button.

If the battery is removable

  • Shutdown your Macbook and wait a few seconds after it completely turnoffs.
  • Now remove the battery. You can contact an Apple Certified Service provider
  • Now to remove all the static charge, press and hold the power button for a few seconds.
  • Finally, plug-in the battery and then start your Mac normally.
